How soon should I complete Quantitative Reasoning (QR) requirement?

• If required, you should plan to try to complete QR as soon as possible.
  
  
• Students who are not pursuing studies that require an in-depth quantitative preparation have the option to postpone completion of the requirement. However, a student attempting to incorporate the QR requirement into his/her Junior or Senior year curriculum sometimes find this frustrating and problematic. Generally, delay is not a good idea.
  
  
• Oftentimes students entering the university have already completed the requirement with test scores or with Advanced Placement credit, or through course work taken at a community college (www.assist.org) or elsewhere (contact a College Evaluator).
  
  
• Whatever course is taken to complete QR must be taken for a letter grade and requires a grade of C- or better to satisfy the requirement.

A - Advisers usually recommend Statistics 2 for students who are not interested in taking more than one quantitative course. Students also have the option to take an equivalent course at a community college (www.assist.org) over the summer.

Q - If I take the QR requirement at a community college or some other non-UC school, does it still have to be letter-graded?

A - Yes, though the grade does not appear on your UC transcript, the College requires a C- or better in any course taken to complete the requirement.
