How will my academics fit into a career plan?

Berkeley offers you a wealth of opportunities to explore your academic and professional interests. To begin your exploration you may want to do some research. We have placed some links below to get you started:

Career Exploration:

• If you want to examine your interests and consider your career options, then visit the Career Counseling Library. You will find career exploration links for occupational information and educational planning.
  
  
• If you have a specific career goal in mind, then visit the Career Center. Find information on career exploration, internships, part-time or full-time jobs, job search strategies & services, career fairs, and more.
  
  
• If you would like to contact Cal alumni working in a field of interest to you for information and career advice, then look into the Student Alumni Mentor Program. Mentors come from a wide array of academic, social, and cultural backgrounds and have varied skills and interests to reflect the diverse campus population and to fit each student's needs.
  
  
• If you would like to take a quick look at a job that seems interesting to you, then consider externships, which are short-term job shadowing experiences with a Cal alum during winter break.

Internships:

• Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP) provides opportunities for you to work with faculty on the cutting edge research projects for which Berkeley is world-renowned. Working closely with faculty, you will deepen your knowledge and skills in areas of special interest.
  
  
• Participants in the The U.C. Berkeley Washington Center (UCDC) spend a semester studying and interning in Washington, D.C.
  
  
• Various Career Center sponsored career fairs offer internship and summer opportunities.
  
  
• Cal Internship Directory has various campus-based and campus-related internship resources.
  
  
• CalJobs is an online job listing exclusively for UC Berkeley students and alumni.
  
  
• Cal in the Capital helps students obtain summer internships in politics, policymaking, governance, research and the media in Washington, DC, and Sacramento. They also provide support in employment search, academic and career preparation, housing and alumni networking.
  
  
• Summer On-Campus Recruiting coordinates interviews with selected employers for summer opportunities.
  
  
• SAGE Scholars Internship program is an academically rigorous program that combines workplace experience with the professional skills needed to succeed in a competitive economy. SAGE Scholars targets highly motivated students from economically disadvantaged and diverse backgrounds.
