Degree Audit Report System (DARS)

How do I find out which of the degree requirements I have completed?

  • A Degree Audit Report, commonly called a "degree check" is a report that compares your record to the requirements for the degree. The University creates two separate audits, one for the College requirements and one for the major requirements.

  • The University now has a computerized degree audit system, DARS, which makes it possible for you to request your own audit through Bear Facts.

  • If you are a first-semester freshman, however, degree audits will not be available until after the 12th week of classes, due to the length of time it takes to complete the loading of all the information. If you've earned any transfer credit from AP tests or college courses you took while you were in high school, the end of the 12th week is also the first time those units will be posted to your Berkeley transcript.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q - If I'm a first-semester freshman, is there any reason for me to request a degree audit?

A - Yes, because as you probably already know, some requirements may be satisfied by high school coursework and test scores; it's a good idea to make sure those records are complete and accurate.

Q - If my Degree Audit shows something that I think (or know) is a mistake, what should I do?

A - Don't panic! There is plenty of time to get it fixed, and the University is not going to insist the audit is right if you point out a mistake. Our office has a "Degree Audit Report Correction Request" available at our front desk at 113 Campbell Hall; come fill one of those out, and we'll work on your DAR until it is correct.
