Congratulations on your admission to the University of California, Berkeley for the spring semester! Here are some important steps you should take immediately to help you start your academic career at Cal:
Freshmen
Options available to you this fall:
- FALL PROGRAM FOR FRESHMEN
Some of you are participating in the UC Extension Fall Program for Freshmen, where you will take Berkeley-equivalent courses during the fall semester that will count toward your graduation requirements. In mid-fall L&S Advisers will be coming out to meet with you in small groups to discuss course enrollments for the spring semester. Look for our email announcements in early October which will direct you to complete Academic Orienteering, the online advising tutorial, prior to our meetings with you.
- ATTEND A COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Attend a community college, where you can complete College requirements and prerequisites for your intended major. Prior to selecting courses at a community college, complete Academic Orienteering, the online advising tutorial, as it will help you determine the types of courses you should enroll in to satisfy college requirements and/or major prerequisites. Then use the Assist web site to find transferable courses that will satisfy various requirements.
Once you have completed your course work at another college, have an official transcript mailed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 110 Sproul Hall, Berkeley CA, 94720-5800.
- TAKE TIME OFF
You may also decide to not enroll for the fall semester in order to take time to work, travel, or relax.
Whatever you choose, be sure to sign up for the Cal Student Orientation program for Spring admits that will be held in mid-fall. Prior to CalSO you'll want to revisit Academic Orienteering. This will prepare you to make the most of your time with advisers during your orientation. Completing the tutorial will help you create a list of potential classes that fulfill the University requirements and prerequisites for your proposed majors in preparation for enrolling in courses for the spring semester.
Transfer Students
