Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies

The Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies offers a major in either theater or dance. Both majors emphasize the methodological rigor of the study of performance that sets the literary, historical, theoretical, and cultural traditions of performance in dialogue with other arts and humanities disciplines. In addition students choose intensive work in acting, design, directing, technical production, choreography, or modern dance technique.

• Theater 10 (by audition), 25AC or 52AC, 26, 60

Lower Division Requirements for the Dance and Performance Studies Major

• Theater 40A or 40B (by audition), 25AC or 52AC, 26, 60

 (Freshmen are exempt from the audition requirement for 40A)
