Sociology
Sociology is the scientific study of human society and social behavior, from the interpersonal level to the international. Sociologists at Berkeley study social psychology, sex roles, the family, deviance, race and ethnic relations, demography, urban sociology, social change, social theory, political sociology, and the societies of specific nations and regions.
Lower Division Prerequisites for the Sociology Major
- Sociology 1, 5
- One course in either statistics or logic
Recommended: Background work in such areas as history, philosophy, cultural anthropology, psychology, economics, and political science.
Note: A minimum 2.0 grade-point average in all prerequisite work is required for declaration of major in Sociology.
