Scandinavian

Majors in the Department of Scandinavian provide an understanding of the linguistic, historical, and cultural relationships that join and divide the nations and peoples of the Nordic region. Students explore the trajectory of Nordic literature from the Middle Ages to contemporary times, and achieve competence in one of the four modern Nordic languages (Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish).
