Religious Studies

The Religious Studies major at Berkeley examines religion from a global perspective with a focus on a thematic concern or a particular religious tradition. The major is open to anyone interested in studying religion and related phenomena academically. It is not directed particularly to those who have a religious background or who might wish to pursue a religious vocation. Students will be challenged to regard religious traditions as both means and objects of intellectual inquiry and to regard their claims both appreciatively and critically.

• 90A-90B (need not be taken consecutively. Students may declare the major after completing or while enrolled in either of these courses.)
