Celtic Studies

The major in Celtic Studies provides a broad understanding of the place of Celtic languages and cultures in the world, as well as a firm grounding in one or more of the Celtic languages. To focus their studies, students also select courses from a related discipline or language.

Lower Division Requirements for the Celtic Studies Major

  • Celtic Studies 70
  • Two semester courses from the following Celtic Studies courses: 15 and 85 (Irish) or 16 and 86 (Welsh), or the equivalent.

Note: Students with prior knowledge of a Celtic language may apply for credit by examination.
