Guidelines for E.A.P.
Full Academic Year and One-Semester Programs
Requirements for those with 30-55 units completed
- Complete at least 30 units of college coursework (post high school graduation). You may not use Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or other high school enrichment units to count toward the 30 unit minimum requirement.
- Strongly advise you complete the first half of the Reading and Composition requirement.
Requirements for those with 56 or more units completed
- Strongly advise you complete both semesters of the Reading and Composition requirement.
- Declare a major at least two weeks prior to the program start date.
- Satisfy senior residence, either by completing regular senior residence (two semesters and 24 units completed after 90 units earned) or, by satisfying the modified senior residence for EAP participants (24 units after completion of 60 units in residence. At least 12 of these units must be completed after you reach 90 units).
General Information
The Office of Undergraduate Advising in the College of Letters and Science will determine whether the criteria listed above have been met.
With careful planning, you can fulfill College, major and minor requirements while abroad. To determine if a course you plan to take abroad will satisfy a major/minor requirement, consult with your major/minor department. To determine if a course you plan to take abroad will satisfy a college requirement, bring a description of the course to 113 Campbell Hall and ask to speak to an evaluator. You should see a College adviser if...
- you plan to apply for a double major.
- you are a transfer student.
- you will have 90 or more units on your record after EAP
- you have any questions about EAP requirements
Drop-in advising hours are from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Wednesday - 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.). Drop-in advising is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Scheduled advising appointments are available Monday-Friday from 2-4 p.m. You can either call us at (510) 642-1483 or come to 113 Campbell Hall to make your appointment.
Please note: Attempting to complete any of the requirements for EAP participation during the summer session prior to your departure can prove difficult. To avoid problems, complete the requirements for EAP participation by the end of the fall or spring term prior to your departure.
