Job Title:

Peer Adviser

Joined the L&S Office of Undergraduate Advising in:

August 2009

What is your approach to advising?

Everyone comes into our office with similar questions, but very different circumstances. The best thing I can do to find out what advise is appropriate for the student is to listen with open ears and really engage in the students particular situation.

Education:

Sophomore Intended Development Studies Major, Global Poverty and Practice Minor

How did you get here?

I am a proud San Diegan from Encinitas, CA but I love the city as well. I knew I wanted to come to Berkeley for the opportunity, the culture, and the school spirit!

What's your favorite part of your job?

Showing a student that they have more options than they originally thought possible.

Most unusual job you ever had:

In high school I waitressed at a Jewish Retirement community.

About me:

I love old movies, vegetarianism, traveling, and grilled cheese. I have a passion for counseling and case working with homeless and at-risk youth, which I have pursued through the Suitcase Clinic here at Cal. I also enjoy snowboarding and I play Cal club lacrosse!

What advice do you have for L&S students in general?

Enjoy learning to engage in the world around you. Focus on earning more than a degree. Focus on earning an education.
