Job Title:

College Adviser

Joined the L&S Office of Undergraduate Advising in:

February 2006

How did you get here?

This is my second round on the Berkeley campus. Fifteen years ago I was a pre-law and pre-med advisor in an office just up the hill on Piedmont Ave. As a college adviser I come to L&S with a background in Tutoring and Disability Services from Dominican University in San Rafael. I have also served in several capacities working with students including admissions and student development.

About me:

I was a religion major at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania and received a Master of Divinity degree from Boston University. As I look back on my years as a student, I realize that the issues and challenges which you face today are no different than they were for me. I changed my major three times in two years. I was a pre-law student and took biology and art history courses for enjoyment. I received one incomplete grade as a sophomore (which I have nightmares about to this day). I studied abroad in Paris and traveled throughout Europe on my own when I was 19. I took summer classes at Georgetown University in Washington DC and managed to get into graduate school with less than stellar grades.

What advice do you have for L&S students in general?

As Berkeley students you are bright, directed and eager to excel in whatever you choose. Working with you is exhilarating and sometimes exhausting but always a pleasure. After reading Kierkegaard, Cone, Tillich, Daly and Reuther. My advice is: "It ain't over till it's over."
