If you have an urgent concern or a situation involving deadlines when delay could cause additional problems, come by 206 Evans Hall to make a 15-minute same-day appointment with a College Adviser during service hours.
For long-term program planning, for help choosing your major, or if you have a personal situation affecting your academic performance, make an appointment for a 30-minute in-person, phone or Skype advising meeting. Plan ahead! Waiting time for advising appointments is up to two weeks during busy times . To schedule an appointment, call (510) 642-1483 during phone hours or come by 206 Evans Hall. Phone hours are Monday through Friday 10am-12noon and 1pm-3pm. The appointment is cancelled if you do not check in within 10 minutes after start time. Appointments cannot be arranged via email.
L&S Peer Advisers are current students who are trained to answer quick questions about L&S requirements, policies and procedures. Peer advisers are available for advising in each of the residence halls from weeks 4-10 of each semester.
Drop-In Transfer Evaluations
Questions about applying transfer credit to College requirements can be answered in person by a College Evaluator. Come to 206 Evans Hall during service hours, and bring transcripts and/or course descriptions with you. Their office hours at 10am-12noon and 1pm-3pm, (closed Wednesday mornings from 8-12 noon).
To make an appointment, to get general information, or to ask a quick question, call (510) 642-1483. In-depth advising or questions requiring the student’s file cannot be handled on the phone. Phone hours are Monday through Friday 10am-12noon and 1pm-3pm.
For quick questions or inquiries about L&S policies or requirements, send an e-mail to AskLnS@berkeley.edu. A Peer Adviser will answer your question, usually within 72 hours. If you have more than one question or if your question requires access to your student file, please plan to meet a College Adviser. Questions about class schedule planning, making appointments, and other complex issues cannot be handled via e-mail.
