Special Summer Advising Hours
Due to new student orientations, the Office of Undergraduate Advising will offer reduced drop-in and phone advising hours on the following dates:

As usual, the reception desk at 113 Campbell Hall will remain open until 4:00 PM on each of these dates to take in student petitions and answer quick questions. Students with questions about graduation or transcript evaluation may phone 510-642-7391 as normally between 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00.
Normal drop-in advising is available on all other dates in the morning and afternoon at 113 Campbell Hall, weekdays 9:00-3:00 (Wednesday 1:00-3:00). Scheduled appointments are available on certain weekdays between 2:00-4:00. Call us at (510) 642-1483 or come to 113 Campbell Hall to make your appointment. Phone hours are weekdays 9:00-4:00 (Wednesdays 1:00-4:00). Office hours are weekdays 9:00-4:00 (Wednesday 1:00 - 4:00).
The Office of Undergraduate Advising will be closed from 12:00-5:00 on Thursday, June 25.
Freshman & Sophomore Seminars at Berkeley
UC Berkeley's Freshman and Sophomore Seminars provide an unparalleled opportunity for faculty members and small groups of lower-division students to explore a scholarly topic of mutual interest together. Faculty members from every campus department come together to offer approximately one hundred seminars each semester, on an astonishing range of topics. By taking a seminar a student becomes an active member of Berkeley's intellectual community. The faculty benefit too: interacting directly with a handful of bright and talented new students can be inspiring and energizing.
Fall '09 Discovery Courses
The seven-course L&S breadth requirement can be an unparalleled opportunity to explore fascinating worlds of knowledge. The Letters & Science Discovery Courses take the guesswork out of satisfying the breadth requirement. Taught by some of the most distinguished faculty on campus and deliberately designed to engage and ignite the minds of non-experts, these courses are destined to be unforgettable.
Finding Your Way for new students
Finding Your Way (FYW) is a comprehensive program for first-year freshmen and first-semester transfer students in the College of Letters and Science. Our goal is to familiarize you with the measures you can take to succeed in articulating and fulfilling your academic pursuits. We also want to foster an appreciation for the responsibility that, as a college student, you will now assume in crafting your education and managing degree progress. The Finding Your Way website will serve as the primary means of communicating important information and updates for freshmen throughout the year.
